    1. This is a short and concise overview, but detailed enough to be informative and entertaining without being overwhelming. This story of the Beatles' roots in Liverpool is told without superfluous in-depth analysis or critiquing and includes many insightful oral snippets from the supporting characters who were there. Fabulous illustrations and separate feature sections showcasing significant places and events add to the visual appeal of the book.

    2. A relatively short excerpt of The Beatles rise to fame. Very much focused on Liverpool. gave insight into the culture of the region at the time, which can be helpful, but at times was too much. Probably more for a die hard wanting to know the tiny details of that specific aspect of their careers than just to gloss over. Interesting memorabilia shown throughout though.

    3. This covers similar ground as Larry Kane's When They Were Boys, and gives a lots of very helpful context with terrific illustrations. It makes Liverpool come into focus. A quick, well-organized stroll down Penny Lane as it were.
