    1. The author is a Canadian born to an Irish mother and English father. He travelled to England & Ireland as a teenager and goes back to Ireland as often as he can afford it. He feels a strong connection to his mother's family and part of the book is his quest to find the story behind the death of his grandfather. He drowned in the Royal Canal the day of Michael Collins' funeral; a tragedy that shadowed the life of his widow and ten children.The book was written in 2002 and much of it is a refl [...]

    2. Very entertaining and enlightening, informative as well as sad and a bit depressing, it is a terrific read.The author has a bit of Hunter S. Thompson poking through at times!

    3. So excited about this! So far it's hilarious and fascinating. I can't believe I scored it for $5 in Victoria.
