    1. This is an interesting book, part legal thriller, part mad scientist, part conspiracy theory. It's also about environmental issues, about East Texas and the problems and politics of the Deep South. In my opinion outstanding were the segments devoted to a post-Katrina New Orleans, the neighborhoods, the people. The book is worth a read for those descriptions alone. The plot is carefully crafted, with great love for detail and explanation, maybe to a fault. At times, the book seems to lack passion. [...]

    2. This is the kind of detective novel I love to read but rarely find. No, it may not have action on every single page, but it's full of suspense and amazing writing. It also has wonderful character development with the lead detective, Geoff Waltz. Perhaps, my favorite thing about this book is the description of Louisiana. 3. That J.D. Barnett, my God. I don't typically read his genre, but his prose was so captivating and his characters so rich - not to mention his plot so inclusive and relevant, he had me at page 1.

    4. Don't bother. Someone should have edited it, plus it seemed like he tried to fit in big words , just because. Hated it!
