    1. The first book in the series Pine Hills Police by Terry Odell. A good, suspenseful read. It kept me guessing. I guessed WHO did it but not the why. The language was not graphic like many books I've read lately. Yes, you can write a book without filthy language. The romance portion was okay but lacked a little something. In the end I was glad to have read it and would definitely read more by this author.

    2. Deleted this at 12%. The sentences were randomly laid out and seemingly a conversation some pages back suddenly continued again !! Really baffling and too irritating to continue. On page 10 she suddenly said "I'm managing" apropos of nothing being discussed and on page 30 (where I gave up) she suddenly says "I'm sure it will be quiet again tomorrow" which again belonged to a conversation some pages prior to when it was used here !!Then the police guy was asking some really peculiar questions abou [...]

    3. This book is supposed to be a mystery about a kidnapping--but mostly it is a lot of backstory about Sarah and her husband's death, and the blossoming romance between her and the police officer sent to investigate a robbery in her store. It had some really good elements and I think it could have been a much better mystery but that part was glossed over so quickly that it was a letdown for me.

    4. Book ends before story is overBook ends before story is overjust when you get to the middle of the action and you think the book is starting to wrap up it ends, very abruptly. The book says 87% and then it goes to review this book??? I don't know if this was a mistake, but very disappointing.

    5. This book is exactly how it is described. A mystery/romance. I found it to be rather superficial and a quick easy read which I found myself doing alot of skimming because of how the book really didn't go very deep. It was almost as though the focus was on the romance dance vs. the mystery which loses my interest very fast.

    6. Deserves 1.5 stars.Finding Sarah has a tone of a Lifetime movie. It's pretty cheesy and one-dimensional and pretty obvious who the villain is. The romance is lacking and poorly constructed and the characters are annoying. A pretty insipid romance thriller that is utterly forgettable.More at Booklikes: katiebabsoklikes/post/8

    7. This book is such a leisurely read, it has a smooth pace that flows nicely. I enjoyed the story and seeing everything come together. There are a few dodgy moments, if you have triggers this may not be for you. While it is not detailed or completed, there is a dramatic scene or two where non-consent almost occurs. You could skim them, because the rest of the book is really terrific. The lead, Sarah, is definitely a survivor and a fighter. On to the story, there are many levels to the suspense and [...]

    8. A great read featuring intriguing characters and a curious mystery that kept me quickly turning the pages right until the end. The relationship between Randy and Sarah was compelling and satisfying and the novel contained a nice blend of mystery with a charming touch of romance. Odell has done a very nice job of setting up a fascinating universe of characters in Pine Hill, Oregon. That certainly makes me eager to read the next book in this series.

    9. Two engaging and dynamic main characters, strong minor characters, and small town setting. This is a good mystery/romance. I suspected who the culprit was in all of Sarah's troubles, but didn't expect the twist. Believable characters and story line. When I finished it last night at 11:00 I immediately downloaded Hidden Fire, the sequel to Finding Sarah. I wasn't quite ready to let Sarah and Randy go. I need to find out if their relationship will survive all the turmoil it's encountered.

    10. Great book about a woman who wants to stay independent no matter what.Love that the author weaved animals into the story.Who doesn't love the hero to be a man in uniform. The villain was brilliantly wrote into the story as a textbook psychopath.

    11. I really enjoyed this book, first one I have read by this author, but won't be the last. it is well written and smooth paced. I had a rough idea of who done it, but did not see the twist cominglooking forward to reading the sequel.

    12. This book begins well with a likable heroine who runs a boutique and a kind, caring hero who is the detective called in when the boutique is robbed. He is instantly attracted to the heroine and goes beyond the call of duty to help her find out why so many bad things are happening to her store. Spoiler coming---When the villain is revealed, he so horrid and over-the-top crazed, it hard to see him as believable in this story. Still all ends well, with the heroine in her loving man's arms.Warning - [...]

    13. I think that it is more Sarah finding Sarah because it isn’t until Sarah is robbed at gun point that she begins to suspect there is something bad happening around her. Until then she seems to be in a daze. In fact, most of the time she seemed oblivious to what is going on around her. Thank goodness for her cadre of support characters. Of course, I would go after anyone who would dare hurt Starsky and Hutch! I recommend this book for those who likes to try to solve the puzzle before the author [...]

    14. Being robbed at gunpoint wasn’t part of Sarah Tucker’s business plan. Neither was falling in love with the detective who arrived to solve the case. All Sarah wants is success for her gift boutique, the one she and her husband created. Now, she’s living a hand-to-mouth existence. Her husband died a year earlier in a car accident—an accident that was ruled suicide, denying her his life insurance money. Burdened by guilt that she was somehow to blame for his death, Sarah faces one business [...]

    15. We first meet Sarah in her gift store where something quite shocking happens - I don't want to tell you what it is because I actually gasped. She meets police officer, Randy, and they become friends and later on, lovers. They have each suffered losses in the past, and are cautious about proceeding with their relationship, but they like each other so much that a natural alliance forms. Sarah's sister-in-law (from her late husband) is quite a problem and I wish we'd seen more of her; the villain y [...]

    16. This was a good little romantic mystery that started with the main character, Sarah, getting robbed at gunpoint by a scary, gutsy old lady. When the police came to take the report, he thought the culprit might be the woman who'd been robbing stores all over Oregon, so he started investigating in that direction. Meanwhile Sarah, who's been trying her best to keep the store financially afloat since her husband died in a car crash, is really hurt by this newest monetary setback. The detective handl [...]

    17. I don't want to give details or spoilers of the story, but let others know why I did or didn't like the book. While I liked this story, I didn't love it. It kept me interested enough, but there was just something lacking in the story for me. The mystery wasn't much of a mystery, I had it pretty much figured out the 1st time I met the guilty party. As for the love story, I didn't feel it so much. Some books can just make you feel the attraction and the need that the characters have for each other, [...]

    18. In Finding Sarah by Terry Odell, Sarah Tucker struggles to keep her specialized gift shop in business when she gets robbed at gunpoint and thus meets Detective Randy Detweiler. It has been more than a year since Sarah's husband died in what she is certain was a car accident in heavy rain, but which leaves enough suspicion of suicide that the insurance company has refused to pay on his policy. Since then a series of minor incidents has left Sarah's shop just barely hanging on by a thread, with he [...]

    19. Someone is out to get shopkeeper Sarah Tucker, and she doesn’t understand why. But Pine Hills police detective Randy Detweiler isn’t about to let the case go. Could it be a rival who wants to see her shop fold, an ex-boyfriend, or someone closer she doesn’t suspect? As Randy delves into his investigation, the threats on Sarah’s life and properties escalate. Will Randy be quick enough to find Sarah once the killer gains the upper hand? Heart-pounding suspense follows his moves as he despe [...]

    20. Hmmm. I had a hard time deciding between 2-3 stars for this book (wish I could do two and a half) I didn't mind that it was obvious who the bad guy was and I did want to see what happened to Sarah but on the other hand, the story was a bit scattered and hard to believe. The love story was mediocre and I thought for sure that the author was a guy with all the specific male sexual references but nope she is a girl. I also thought Sarah was smarter and could have done some things a bit differently. [...]

    21. I just reread this in January 2016, because I purchased the Pine Hills Police boxed set, and this was the first in that set.Overall, I liked the story and the characters. I felt that some of the conflicts were contrived, especially the final one. Also, I felt that sexual situations played too large a part in the story. However, I do enjoy Terry O'Dell's writing, and it was well edited and free of annoying errors.

    22. If I had to use one word to describe this book it would be simplistic. The story is a mystery/romance but everything was flat. The dialogue, the characters, the story baseline itself.I really wish the writer had spent more time giving us insight into the main characters. Except for the kidnapping there really wasn't much suspense. I saw potential in the writer but will wait a few books before I try another story.

    23. This was the first Terry Odell book I have read, but it won't be the last! The characters are interesting, the story line is easy to follow. There is suspense and romance, which are the makings of a good book. I'm anxious to read the next book in the series to see what happens with Randy and Sarah.

    24. I loved the characters of Pine Hill. Terry Odell is a solid writer, great to work with, and I enjoyed my time collaborating with her over the 4 book series. 'Sarah' is a real person, down to earth, someone who has been through a lot in her life and is trying hard to stand up on her own. Listeners always identify with her, root for her and love the outcome of this story.

    25. This was easy reading for a rainy day. It is a good mystery and the romance is a little steamy in places. The characters were believable and the police procedures felt authentic. I can recommend it to enthusiasts of the mystery genre.

    26. Another great book by Terry! Loved Randy & Sarah's stories and how they intertwined. Terry always makes me care about her characters and want the best for them - no excpetion this time. A great romantic mystery! :)

    27. All I can say is grab this book if you want to read a marvelous and fantastic romantic suspense and you will not be disappointed. A riveting plot and electrifying chemistry between Sarah and Randy makes it a definite must read!!!!!!!!!!

    28. I read this as an audiobook. The story is well written, it keeps moving along and keeps you interested at all times. I especially like Sara's spunky neighbor, she brings humor and wisdom into the book.I just downloaded the second book in this series.

    29. Good storylineGood storylineGood storyline and this grabbed my emotions from the beginning!I was interested in the characters and in what was happening next!this is the first book by Terry Odell but not my last!
