1 thought on “Shroud of Roses

    1. I sought out this book because I had read and enjoyed the previous instalment in the Cornwall and Redfern mysteries; ‘Corpse Flower’. Intriguing characters, a quirky story and mysteries to boot – this was not one to be missed and I am happy to report that its successor possesses all of the same qualities. With just the right amount of suspects, red herrings and suspense, ‘Shroud of Roses’ shapes up to be an excellent detective story with a twist. I am referring to our eccentric protago [...]

    2. This is the 2nd in the Cornwall and Redfern series. Redfern is a hot, blonde, spiky-haired Chief of Police from away and Cornwall is a hot, multi-hued rebel who can sometimes (okay, always) make the Chief's life a bit difficult as everyone knows the local girl and her past. The story line is intriguing. A body is found in a school slated for demolition. How long the body has been in the locker is the first mystery to discover since the school has been closed for 15 years. There are a host of susp [...]

    3. I received this book via NetGalley to give an honest review.I love characters who are witty, smart aleck, mouthy and funny. When I read the blurb I didn't expect one of the main characters to have me laughing at her ways. Bliss is dating the local chief of police and she likes to insert herself into the field of police work. Bliss is a character you can't help but like and want more of. The story starts out where in an old gym a body is discovered while police are trying to figure out who that pe [...]

    4. I loved this book! No way was I expecting the humor of the characters. I thought it was going to be a regular mystery book. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. I loved this Bliss girl, she's not taking any crap off anyone and I love strong female leads! Duh, I'm female. Ha!!I was pretty sure I knew who "did it" when Redfern added the new name on the whiteboard and I was correct. However, that in no way took away from my enjoyment. And the fact that this was the second in the series did not hinder a [...]

    5. Ha! Bliss is hysterical. The shenanigans she gets up to -- and away with -- while solving crimes are brilliantly funny.

    6. I loved this book! I did not realize it was the second book in a series when I signed it out of the library. I will definitely read the first one next because I love the characters and mystery. I had a lot of fun reading this book!

    7. Good Read, Good Characters **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**Neil Redfern was a police chief. His girlfriend's name was Bliss. Fang Davidson and Larry Cutler bought the right to salvage Lockport High School before it was demolished. In the girls' locker room was a full skeleton. Bliss wanted to help with the investigation especially as more murders were happening. Neil was a cop who came from a small town to see all he hadn't seen by not being in a big city and [...]

    8. A few good laughs and lots of chuckles.! I liked Corpse Flower so much that I bought this book to read after I finished Linwood Barclay's Promised Falls trilogy and I'm glad I did. It didn't have quite as much ROFL humour as the first book and that's primarily because Dougal and Simon don't have as big a role but the rest of the characters are just as quirky and if anything Neil is an even better foil for Bliss. The Santa Claus parade was an absolute hoot and Glory was great at making Bliss's li [...]

    9. I didn't actually realize that this was the second in a series when I first started reading it, but luckily I was still able to follow along really well. I really like Bliss' stubborn and witty sarcasm but I actually wasn't found of her "boyfriend" at all. Most of the time he acted as if he didn't care about her at all or treated pretty crappy. I understand that he had issues in his past, as did she, but I wouldn't have put up with it. Other then there relationship, the mystery itself has me pre [...]

    10. I'm always leery of reading book 2 in a series without reading book one but you don't need to worry. This is a very well written murder mystery with a wonderful couple leading the investigations. Set in Canada, Redfern is the local constable in charge and his girlfriend, Cornwall graduated with the murder victim. As the story progresses, we get an array of suspects who are suddenly getting murdered themselves. Going to get book one, Corpse Flower, and will be looking forward to the next book by [...]

    11. I give this book 4 stars. =)This was a pretty entertaining novel to readbecause it had tons of mystery and some suspense. There was a dash of romance as well but the mysterybehind solving the death of the main character'sold classmate is the main focus. It's worth checking it if you like a killermystery storyline. My full blogger review is posted at:BooksMoviesFandoms.wordpress

    12. Shroud of Roses – A Mystery with Heart and HumorAn intriguing and fulfilling 'who done it' plot with memorable characters. Protagonists, Bliss Moonbeam Cornwall and Chief Redfern keep readers on edge as they try and determine who is responsible for the rising body count in this small town and plunge deeper into their anything but smooth relationship. There are laugh out loud scenarios brilliantly interwoven into the suspense in this novel.

    13. The characters were humorous. The police chief Neil Redfern and his girlfriend Bliss who does not take crap from anyone . She wanted to help solve the various murders that occur all based around a disappearance from the high school prom. A very well written story and likeable characters.I received this book in exchange for an honest review

    14. I really enjoy this new series. The characters are strong and quirky and the plot keeps me turning the pages with all sorts of twists and turns. The writing style is good as well. I hope there's a third one on the way!

    15. My rating for Shroud Of Roses is: 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.Full review for Shroud Of Roses will be coming soon!Playing catch-up with my reviews. Check back for updateon my review! :)

    16. A welcome follow up to the first adventures of Bliss Cornwall and Neil Redfern. Action, romance (of sorts) and some doses of karma make for a great read.
