    1. In broad brushstrokes, Unbreakable tells a story of forbidden love between, Alex, a wealthy lawyer and Cory, a down on his luck single father. They meet under high pressured circumstances during which, and due to Cory's hero complex (Jung would have been proud) Alex has an epiphany which, with domino effects, proceeds to rearrange fundamental aspects of her life. Overall, hypnotic and emotional. p.s. Seeing as I've read 4 ES books in succession, one thing of note is the lukewarm sex scenes (which [...]

    2. Alexandra Gardener had her whole life mapped out. A successful trial lawyer with a reputation for being ruthless, but the best, a fiancée well established as she is, a beautiful home and friends surrounding her. While waiting on the verdict of a case that can ultimately send her career into the stratosphere, Alex becomes caught in a bank robbery gone bad. Cory Bishop is an honest, hard working guy desperate to make ends meet in order to support his daughter and ailing father. Although attracted [...]

    3. So this is pretty hard, but I'm gonna go with 3 stars. And if you've been following my reviews for even a little bit of time you're probably thinking what the hell? I know, I'm shocked, too.Emma Scott is easily one of my top favorite authors, and it feels like blasphemy to give her work anything other than 5+ stars because she's incredible and the writing was still very well done. But this one just wasn't one of my favorites, and I think a big part of that had to do with the angst and "love tria [...]

    4. Well this is a little-hidden gem from Emma Scott, I think this is my favourite book from her after The Butterfly Project.A highly driven and successful woman in a passionless relationship, plus a super kind and sexy, hardworking single dad meet under some extremely terrifying circumstances. I loved the build up of their relationship, I enjoyed the angst and the journey that Alex went through as she comes to terms with the fact that her life has just turned itself on it's head.A perfect & ent [...]

    5. 5 stars. Once again I accidentally stayed up until 3:00am reading when I really, really need to be sleeping! I loved it. It took me a little longer to get sucked in because the h's character is kind of robotic in the beginning (as are her Stepford friends), but it's necessary to the plot and puts you in her humdrum life which is key. But, by the 3rd chapter, I was hooked. I'd fallen in love with Cory by the 4th chapter, and by the 5th, I couldn't put the book down. Thus, the time. I didn't know [...]

    7. Overall rating: 4.5 "Unbreakable/Dobhriste" stars!Triggers:Cheating: (view spoiler)[ Not between the hero and heroine, BUT the heroine DOES have a fiancee whom she cheats on with the hero of the story. I marked this story as safe with exception for those of you who are not okay with this kind of storyline, but I am all for it as long as the story makes sense and with the premise of this story, I have to say it does and it's understandable.(hide spoiler)]Love triangle: (view spoiler)[ Technically [...]

    8. Warning!! Spoilers galore!!!So this is the story about a man and a woman coming together and falling in love during a hostage situation. I'm not going to go into further details relating to the story itself, but I'll tell you that I loved the premise. So to get to the warning: This has cheating and triangle written all over it! But I loved it nonetheless. Although it's not my favorite ES book it certainly lived up to my expectations. Now that that's out of the way, let's get to itI can understand [...]

    9. 3.5 StarsOverall an original story with great characters that keeps you hooked no matter what. I love Ms. Scott’s writing and here it is no different. I just had one major pet peeve although I was more lenient about it but all the way through the book she was still engaged until the very end. It bothered me admittedly not as much as it should have but still. Cory is an absolute saint. He should have tossed her sorry arse to the curb sooner but you know love is a fickle thing. But he did leave [...]

    10. romanticcynicblog.wordpress.cBeware of Spoilers!Star Ratings:Heroine (Alex): 1/5Hero (Cory): 4/5Plot: 2/5Grovel: who cares…she deserved to spend the rest of her life with her boring fiance Cheating: yes – h has a fiancé and she fucked the HHEA: yes but what is the point in having two epilogues when both are only set a couple of months after the ending??Triggers: cheatingAverage score: 1.5/5Best Line: “Pops once told me that a life without integrity wasn’t worth living.”Worst Line: “ [...]

    11. 5- stars. One more story by Emma Scott that I loved. I love the worlds she creates through her stories. Plain and simpleI loved Cory so much He's a man who doesn't give up even in the worst of situations. He's passionate in everything he doesI really liked Alex, even though I wanted to hit her upside the head some times to make her see things more clear but at the same time I could understand her struggle How can a person give up a secure, everything plan out life for something uncertain just bec [...]

    12. 4.5 stars!!! Ohhhh I loved Cory!!! I felt for Alex and understood why things happened but also disappointed with the way she treated Drew even though he seem to care!! But Cory and Alex are definitely a perfect match!!!

    13. And that, folks, was another wonderful read from Emma Scott! This story is more than the promise of romance, more than the spark between the characters and more than what happened inside that bank for three days. This is about Cory and Alex, two different people living in opposite worlds with different dreams and beliefs. Two different lives brought together by an unfortunate event. The other living a glamorous life, at the peak of her career and about to tie the knot to a what the society calls [...]

    14. "Seasfaidh mé go tréan - tá mo spiorad dobhriste.”"I shall stand firm—my spirit is unbreakable.’”This is book 2 in this series and it appears to have been renamed and re-formatted since I first downloaded it. Story is about Alex Gardener, attorney and on the move up the corporate ladder. She meets Corey Bishop during a bank heist and they become an item. She is stuck in an engagement, a fiancee who is asexual and doesn't know the meaning of love or commitment to her. He is committed to [...]

    15. Alex's life is moving in forward motion and according to plan. So why does she feel a sense of discontentment on the inside? She's got a job that she is brilliant at, a fiancé that her parents approve of and she is not hurting for money. I really liked Alex right from the very beginning. She works hard for her success and she's not shallow, but she is surrounded by people who appreciate being a noted member of society. Alex is standing in line behind Cory at the bank when there's a armed robber [...]

    16. On the brink of becoming a partner in a prestigious law firm, Alex Gardener seems to have everything going for her, including an equally successful finance. Unfortunately their hectic lives leave little time to themselves or as a couple for that matter. Cory Bishop, on the other hand, can't catch a break to save his life. The construction job he works pays the bills and his child support, but it leaves little to be desired. Not to mention his ex wants to move his daughter to Alaska against his w [...]

    17. *actual rate: 3.5/5See the entire review in my blog, Plethoric ThoughtsTo be honest, I expected that the second City Lights novel will be slightly similar with the first one: a little bit of sweet pure romance, a little spice, a little thrills. But it wasn’t anything like Love Beyond Words at all.Where characters in the first book were sweet and entirely delightful to see interact, the characters in Unbreakable were more mature. Through the perspectives and back stories provided by the two nar [...]

    18. *I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*This is the second in the City Lights series yet stands alone (the first being Love Beyond Words--free right now, by the way). There are merely allusions to the characters from the first book, so no problem getting into this one if you haven't read that one.I was warned at 42% by the author that this is where people start to hate the heroine. Well, I guess I have a moral dilemma. Alex had mentally and physically separate [...]

    19. I loved this book! To all the ladies out there who love a romance with a hot guy and really good story, this is the next one to read! It made being sick in bed tolerable. The writing was really well done. It had a great story, which definitely kept my interest. A terrifying bank robbery/hostage situation that turns into two of the hostages trying to their lives back in order. There were many characters in this book, all well developed; some I loved and some not so much. Alex is a strong lawyer a [...]

    20. I have read all 3 books now and I truly can not say which one is my favorite. All 3 are so different. Sure, they are boy meets girl love stories but oh boy, they are not your typical sappy, no plot love stories like so many books out there these days. You absolutely do not need to read these books in order, I read #3 then #1 and finally Unbreakable. (However Endless Possibility is coming out soon and you must read Rush book #3 before reading EP)I absolutely loved Unbreakable. I am not a creative [...]

    21. The beginning of this book was great. The ending of this book was great. The majority, the middle, was long, angsty and skimmable (exactly what I did). The H/h are strangers that meet in a teller line at a bank in West L.A. Then masked robbers with guns storm in, and take the customers hostage and start a bank robbery attempt. The police arrive before the robbery is successful and a multi-day hostage situation develops. The H/h are thrown together, they bond, she notices his handsome "plump" lips [...]

    22. I am so bummed with this. I really like Emma Scott's books a lot but this had things in it that I really really dislike in stories. The first huge one is cheating. There is a lot of cheating in this and I don't care that Alex's fiancé and her had issues or what was going on. Cheating is cheating and I hated how long it went on in this story. The first almost 50% of the book I read so quickly through. I enjoyed the intensity of it and understood how people's behavior became extreme in life and d [...]

    23. “What a serendipitous find this story is! I fell in love instantly with Alex, a woman who has worked hard at her career as an attorney and her engagement to the handsome Drew, only to have her secure life broken apart after she is a victim in a bank robbery. Even though she is scarred by this terrible ordeal she meets Cory, a handsome man who saves her life and he helps her to realize that her spirit is unbreakable. I felt attracted to the hero, Cory right along with Alex, and was completely c [...]

    24. This book hits the ground running with its dramatic bank robbery scene, leaving me with my heart in my mouth, as usual with her books, Emma Scott had me captivated from the very beginning. A relationship that begins in the most traumatic circumstances creates an incredibly strong bond in a very short space of time. Alex seemed like a woman who had it all, a high powered job, a desirable fiancé and the world at her feet. Cory has both feet on the ground, trying to make ends meet and fulfil his o [...]

    25. Another beautiful book from Emma Scott. I think I've definitely found a new favourite author. I defy anybody to read this book and be able to put it down. I found myself cursing anything and everything I had to do that took me away from Cory and Alex's story. The way their relationship began was harrowing and amazingly written, with moments of almost unbearable tension. But what I really loved about this book was that it didn't end with the end of the robbery in some grand gesture of love. The a [...]

    26. I'm sorry to say, but this one is without a doubt my least favourite in the City Lights series. There was a time when I actually quite enjoyed these stories where an unhappy engaged woman meets a new guy who makes her way happier (hint at Sophie Kinsella's I've Got Your Number) but I no longer enjoy these story lines. I do not like the hints at love triangles even if the original boyfriend/fiancé/husband makes the heroine unhappy or isn't very happy in the relationship either. I want my romance [...]

    27. This is pure artIt's hard to write a worthy review from my kindle but I will do my best. This story was art. It was love. It was beautiful. I felt every emotion. Every thought. Every breath. Utterly fantastic. Ms Scott is now on my auto-buy list. Just amazing. I've never read another story quite like this. I'm impatiently waiting for the next release which I do hope is soon.
