    1. Every Day is Father’s Day is the first novel by American poet and author, Anthony Valera. Ray Oliver is a divorced man whose every penny goes to saving for his daughter, Mickey: education and a nice place to live are what he wants for her. He loves music, has some work teaching drums and wishes he could find a band to play with; his main source of income is repossessing cars for the bank with his best friend, Don; his dog, Juken is his only other friend. But Sundays are gold: he gets to spend [...]

    2. 3 Professional reviews:#Blueink review says: Anthony Valera tackles dark issues in this strangely compelling novel, a gritty story that unfolds after the apparent abuse of a young girl.Valera seems to have mined his own experience(as a former Marine and Viet Nam vet) for his authentic portrayal of Ray's best buddy, Don Martino, a rugged Former Marine and highly complex, flawed character who is simultaneously tough and fragile.Valera has the writing chops to conjure up some real tension and menac [...]

    3. I found this book to be completely different than any book I've read so far. It an amazingly compelling book about a father who will do anything to keep his daughter safe. When he finds out that hi ex-wife's new boy friend has molested his daughter, he tries time after time to go the police and the courts for help, but the law are seemingly not willing to help him. They look at Ray Oliver and his best buddy as two people on the fringes of society. Ray is a musician who is struggling to make a name [...]

    4. I received a copy of this book through Giveaways - thank you very much - but this has not influenced my review.Poor Ray. He's not too bright, easily led, but he does try to do the right thing. Being a part-time father must be hard enough, but when your little daughter tells you she's been molested by her mother's new boyfriend, what are you supposed to do? Not having children myself, I can't imagine how I would react in this situation. Ray's compulsion to just take his daughter and run seems re [...]

    5. I enjoyed the book. It was a realistic family drama true to life to many middle income yet mainstream Americans, their day to day trials, and the way we may have dealt with the issues the characters faced. Behind the story lines, I see the Veteran father that was there, not missing in action. I see the friendship and bonds we don't see very often. I see a struggling family, trying to do what's best for their own. I experienced Mickey's teen challenges(myself being a single parent of two) as I sa [...]

    6. Wow. This is a gut wrenching novel about a divorced father that will do anything to protect his daughter Mickey. This novel has a main plot and a subplot, both which have amazing climaxes. All the characters are well drawn( even the dog, but one of my favorite characters is Mickey, she's fragile and funny at the same time. The author tackles many dark issues that I don't see authors trying to tackle that often anymore. There is so much more I'd like to say about this novel, but I just don't have t [...]

    7. I won a copy of this story through the First Reads program. I was amazed at what I read in this story. This book is about a divorced man named Ray who deeply cares for his 5 year old daughter Mickey. When he finds out that his ex-wife's new boyfriend is molesting his daughter, he does whatever it takes to protect her, no matter the cost.A well-developed plot with characters who were unique. I would have liked the story a bit more if it were more detailed to give it a bit more suspense, but other [...]

    9. This novel about a father named Ray Olive Who will do anything to keep his daughter, Mickey, safe. The characters are drawn well. The plot is taunt and like a thriller, it surprises you at every turn. A unbielievable ending(climax) is followed by a great resolution. I highly recommend this novel. It left me feeling good and knowing that I wouldn't be forgetting these character or this story soon.

    12. Wow that was not what I expected at all. Don't get me wrong this book was great I didn't want to put it down at all but the subject matter was a little surprising. In a good weird way. It made me sad in some parts but took your emotions to another level in the next sentence. This father (Ray) will do anything to save his daughter (Mickey) even if that means taking her away from her mother. All I have to say is thank the lord he did. Even though our main character is slap-able you can see that he [...]
