    1. EXCERPT: All day long, Stone thought of Consuelo Vargas, wishing he would find her, now reluctant he had. His men had searched for two days, plastering her face all over the county. 'Connie', as she was known to her family and friends, had been a person, with kids and a future. In this August heat, no one seemed to notice or care. Stone wiped the sweat from his brow. His search had turned up nothing but more questions, leading to pent up frustration and explosive nerves. At least now that frustr [...]

    2. “The Burning Man” by Solange Ritchie is a gripping gut-wrenching psychological serial thriller. It is hard to believe that this is the debut work of a new author, because it is so well written, and flows so well. Her talent shines through, and I will definitely be following this author, to see what is in store for us in the future.Catherine Powers, known as “CAT” to her friends is a FBI forensic pathologist in the Behavioral Analysis Unit working out of Quantico, VA is assigned a case in [...]

    3. 4.5 starsI am grateful to the author for an ARC of The Burning Man in exchange for an unbiased review. Thank you, Ms. Ritchie. The Burning Man is a tremendous debut novel by Ms. Solange Ritchie. The protagonist, Dr. Catherine (Cat) Powers, is a multitalented member of the FBI. She is a physician and has expertise in both pathological and behavorial forensics. The story revolves around Cat’s efforts to bring a serial killer to justice. Her work is complicated by the fact that at this point in he [...]

    4. 2.5 starsI finished this book a couple of days ago and while I normally get my reviews out the same day, for The Burnimg Man I really needed to let my thoughts settle. I had so many conflicting emotions about this book that I couldn't ignore them all, and that might still show through in my review bear with me. :)The Burning Man is the debut novel by Solange Ritchie. I was graciously offered a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review which I happily accepted. There was definitely buzz [...]

    5. Move over, Kay Scarpetta. Cat Powers is on the case! In fact, Dr. Powers could be Scarpetta and her FBI profiler husband, Benton Wesley, rolled into one. Solange Ritchie’s lead character, Catherine “Cat” Powers, is an FBI forensic pathologist who is engaged by law enforcement officials in Orange County, California, to add her expertise to a case that has baffled everyone. Several young women’s mutilated bodies have been found with almost identical wounds. Because of the signature torment [...]

    6. Ms. Solange Ritchie kindly sent a beautifully bound print copy of her debut novel The Burning Man. This artistically crafted, creatively designed, and passionately written book easily fits into the genre of psychological thriller, but it is so much more. Containing all the necessary elements of setting, characterization, plot, theme and dialogue. It focuses on a serial killer and the FBI profiler summoned to Orange County to apprehend him. There are graphic murder scenes, moments of forensics, g [...]

    7. This book takes place in Orange County-Irvine and the surrounding areas of California. The Burning Man is an intensely charged psychological serial thriller. A Clarice Starling meets Ted Bundy approach to a gripping and gruesome novel that I found difficult to put down. The cover of this book is quite graphically unique and eye catching, so much so that I had to keep going back to look at it. The title was somewhat unoriginal but not plain. The writing style is what I would call methodical and m [...]

    8. It's hard to know where to start! Sometimes starting a book by an author you've never heard of is a 50/50 proposition. There's always hope it's going to be a great read but then you're also prepared for it to be something unpalatable at the same time.I got really lucky and got my hands on a 5-star book. That's almost unheard of coming from me for a first-time author.Real quick blurb Cat Powers is an FBI Forensic Pathologist/Agent who is called in when several young ladies are found dead afte [...]

    9. Rating 2.5 First and foremost I want to thank Solange Ritchie for gifting me a PDF copy of her first novel. I felt I had no choice but to be as honest as possible with my review but that doesn't mean I have to be disrespectful. It has always been one of my life goals to write a book and I admire anyone who takes the leap and puts their heart and soul into making a finished product all their own. Kudos to you Solange for doing this. Also being a PDF copy I want to mention that their may be correc [...]

    10. First, I would like to thank Solange Ritchie for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. With that being said, I would have to humbly say that this is one of the most difficult reviews I have ever had to do. I do not believe in spoilers and I very rarely give 5-star reviews. I believe that the 5-star review is for the elite of the bunch - the very few. Thus, 4-stars in my opinion are an excellent book.Solange Ritchie has written an excellent first novel. The story line and plot are [...]

    12. An exciting read from a breakout new author. Couldn't put it down - grabs you from the first page and you have to stay awake to read justapter Can't speak highly enough about the strong, female protagonist, Dr. Cat Powers. What a refreshing change that is. It was fun to read all the little history notes on the Orange County cities and landmarks where most of the book takes place. This series is off to an explosive start.

    13. REVIEW: THE BURNING MAN by Solange RitchieComplex and convoluted, riveting and tautly suspenseful, THE BURNING MAN introduces a truly sadistic but very clever, cunning, and elusive killer--a killer with a Plan and no intention of ever being stopped. Brought into the case is an FBI forensic pathologist, Doctor Catherine Powers, who will eventually find both her life and her son's in the target of this bizarre killer. Gory and gruesome, this riveting mystery will keep readers glued to its pages.

    14. Author: Solange RitchiePublisher: Morgan James PublisherISBN: 978-1-63047-519-2In Solange Ritchie's debut haunting novel, The Burning Man a serial killer is on the loose leaving in his path grossly mutilated bodies of young women who are turning up in South Orange County, California. This monstrous killer seems capable of ditching his victims in such a state that it even shakes up well-seasoned homicide detectives when they arrive at the scene of the crimes. And that is just the beginning as the [...]

    15. My thanks to the author, Solange Ritchie, for providing me with an advanced draft of her book, "The Burning Man", in exchange for an honest review. I always take into consideration a debut novel by a new author, and I tend to cut some slack as a result. And, like a few other reviewers have indicated, I too normally find typos distracting, to the point of deducting the number of stars I'd award to the book, but here, I also understood that the author was providing me an advanced draft, so typos a [...]

    17. Source: Views She Writes - WordPress ReviewsIt does not take long for the course of life to drastically change. Cat did not expect such a thing to happen to her when she took up the case of the Burning Man. However things hit home very hard when the case turns personal and someone close get intimately involved in the crime. The story is about a psychotic serial killer and a pathologist who gets too close to catching him. The story is line is decent and maintains enough pace to keep the reader fl [...]

    18. What a great book! I received a copy of the final draft for an honest opinion and I just thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had a great story line, fast pacing, believable wonderful characters, scary, taut drama, truly a crime of unbreathable proportions. My heart was pounding through a lot of it and I never saw the ending coming and I usually do. Solange you just rocked it and have a huge career in front of you. She's currently writing her fourth and I certainly hope it contains the cast of chara [...]

    19. I love a good crime book and, when I began reading The Burning Man by Solange Ritchie, I was delighted to find this is exactly what I’d been given to review – a good crime book – one in which we follow an horrific case through the eyes of both a top FBI forensic pathologist, Dr Cat Powers, and that of the perpetrator – a killer with a twisted, maniacal mind. Basically, a series of dead women are found, all of whom have been brutally tortured. Cut with precision all over their body and wi [...]

    20. 4 – 4.25 stars**Impressive new suspense, psychological thriller author who offers up some detailed, scene-setting suspense language without being unnecessarily wordy.I was one of the lucky readers to receive an ARC/galley proof copy. With a new author, you can’t be sure what you’re going to get. Overlooking the copyediting/proofing edits needed before it is released in September, this is an exciting new series by a newly-published author. If her freshman release is this good, I see many 5 [...]

    21. Strong characters & interesting storyAfter reading Ms. Ritchie's debut novel, one can't help but be impressed by her grasp of forensic pathology and the medical world. It is obvious right away she must have spent a great deal of time researching to prepare for this novel. Her main character Catherine "Cat" Power is a fantastic new heroine in the vein of Kay Scarpetta & Clarice Starling. FBI consultant Power is hot on the the trail of a serial killer dubbed "The Burning Man" in Los Angeles [...]

    24. I did review this book free to read and review. It took me longer then I wanted to finish the book but not because I didn't like it just because MY reading time has been hard to find. This book was scary and intense. The burning man was a good mystery that was well written and had me thinking about it when I could not be reading it. I hate to give anything away so I will not try to summarize the book but I will say it would make a very good episode of NCIS I will be looking for future books by t [...]

    25. This book was pretty average. I felt like there were parts of the story missing & parts of the story that didn’t make sense.Random characters were introduced, never to be heard of again. To me, they served no purpose to the overall story.I liked Catherine, but I thought some of her decisions were silly & didn’t fit her character. The killer was very good, but I was hoping for more in relation to his background/history. I can only assume there will be a sequel which may bring closure t [...]
