    1. Faith Cathwell daughter of Honor Cathwell works as a nurse in a Union Army camp as she seeks cover to search for her friend Shiloh, a free woman of color who had been abducted five years earlier. As she gets to know Colonel Devlin Knight, she resists her growing feelings toward him. The Colonel has inner conflicts of his own and resists the attraction he feels toward Faith. I was anxious throughout not knowing what would be the fate of these two people. As usual, Lyn Cote draws many-layered chara [...]

    2. Having read the previous two novels in the Quaker Brides series, I’ve come to appreciate how Lyn uses her books to share stories of strong women from different points and situations in history. In Faith readers follow the character Faith in the thick of the Civil War as she cares for the wounded Union soldiers after battle. Once again, I admired how Lyn portrays her character – not only is Faith already a bit of an anomaly due to being a Quakeress, she has also chosen to step out in a profes [...]

    4. This review is also posted on Book by Book. This third Quaker Brides novel follows Faith Cathwell, along with Colonel Devlin Knight, within the chaos of the Civil War. Like the series’ previous two novels Honor and Blessing, Faith explores the issue of the abolition of slavery, as well as the Quaker faith, yet with its own great new characters, circumstances, and historical context. As I started and kept reading Faith, I found myself easily enjoying as much as I did the others. And as I expecte [...]

    5. *My Thoughts*Wow. After book one and two, Lyn had set the bar SO high that I was worried I would find book 3 "mediocre". WHAT.ON.EARTH.WAS.IINKING?!?!To use an acurrate term, Lyn knocked it out of the park! Filled with Faith (no pun intended!), facts, and a sense of reality like none other, Faith left me with a sense of happiness, a pride for my country, newfound knowledge, and a new favorite author.I can't wait to see what else Lyn has in storeI already lent out the entire series to another fri [...]

    6. Author Lyn Cote hits a new high in FAITH, the third book in her Quaker Brides series. FAITH is the beautifully-told story of a brave and dedicated Union Army nurse who cares for the victims of a terrible war while searching for a childhood friend who was kidnapped and sold into slavery. Cote’s meticulous attention to historical detail never intrudes on the love story of Faith and Dev Knight, the slaveholding Union officer whose personal conflicts become very real. A particularly touching scene [...]

    7. I liked this book, I didn't love it. This book takes place during the civil war and the battle fields since the main character is a nurse and the hero is a colonel. Even knowing that, I wish there was less emphasis on the battles and more on the relationships. I wanted to see some romance! It wasn't too gruesome, thankfully and I did tear up several times and it all wrapped up pretty nicely. While it's not a favorite of mine, I still love Lyn Cote's books and she's an auto buy for me!

    8. Centered around the battlefields of the American Civil War (War Between the States), this is a moving story that encompasses the inner struggles of individuals conflicted by the societal issues of the time. "Faith" is actually a young woman given the name Faith by her parents and raised and following the beliefs of the Quakers. Being a Quaker, she is peaceful and anti-war. She is, however, a compassionate lady given to the talent and wisdom of healing. She is immersed in the medical tents of the [...]

    9. If you enjoy books about the Civil War, this one brings you right on to the battlefield. We also spend a lot of time in the medic tent, tending to the wounded and dying. We meet the good and the bad of the doctors who take care of these men, and we meet Faith Cathwell and Honoree who are on a mission to find their captured and sold sister. They are also well-trained nurses, who are better than some of the doctors here. They are also on a mission to find Shiloh, a freeborn woman and sister who was [...]

    10. As a reader, I love to feel transported by an author to a certain period of time and become immersed in the emotions, sounds, and happenings of a particular event in history. Lyn Cote does an excellent job of this, and that is one of the reasons I loved this book. The Civil War is one of my favorite time periods, and the characters, details, and research put into this book made it come alive for me. Some authors deal too much with battle details or ignore that and focus mainly on the personal in [...]

    11. What I Loved: Some books have everything going for it and nothing against it. Faith is one of those books. I loved Faith and Dev. They were so different and their struggle was realistic. Faith struggled to let go and let God. Dev struggled with society’s ideals. Both are issues we can easily relate to.As a Civil War novelist, I always enjoy visiting the battlefield with another author and my journey with Lyn Cote was a treat. I tend to have a soft spot for a good war-time nursing story so this [...]

    12. Often times books that are about the Civil War, tend to be a bit more on the gory side. This one does not have the depth in it of historical detail, but it is a sweet, heartfelt story. It clearly shows the many conflicts that occurred on both sides of the battlefront. The love of friendship that many had across racial lines and the lack of understanding for that. I felt that while this book lacked the depth that I have come to love from authors like Jocelyn Green or Lynn Austin, it was such a sw [...]

    13. My ReviewFaith Cathwell is what I would call a determined woman. As she did her job as a nurse in the Civil War, she was really looking for her kidnaped and freed friend who was a woman of color. Which was a very dangerous situation for anyone, much less a woman. Faith did ask for help from Cournal Devlin Knight and the two of them determine to find Shiloh, as dangerous as it may be.This book is a journey of struggles and difficulties and Faith and Delvin continue to find Shiloh. I did enjoy the [...]

    14. I think all readers dream of what a perfect book would be for them. I know I have. In Lyn Cote's books, I have not only found a perfect book, I have also found a perfect author who writes good, wholesome books that never fail to brighten my day. Each book I read from her never ceases to touch me; I love them all.

    15. Faith Like a Mustard SeedPLEASE GO TO MY BLOG: bookreadingtic/2016/05/19/ TO READ MY REVIEW - THANK YOU!Religion, race and gender work against good friends Faith and Honoree, as they attempt to tend to the Union's wounded during the Civil War. Many things cause an uphill battle for them. Faith is a Quaker, and that denomination's stance against slavery have many people blaming the Quakers for starting the war. Honoree is African American, and despite being free-born, is often treated less than e [...]

    16. As a woman and a peace-loving Quaker, a Civil War battlefield is the last place Faith Cathwell expected to find herself. When her friend, Shiloh – a freeborn black woman - is snatched by slave catchers and sold into slavery, Faith and Shiloh’s sister, Honoree, see nursing the troops at the battlefield as their ticket into the South to search for her. An abolitionist, Faith believes in the cause of the Northern states. Her family has hosted a stop on the Underground Railroad at their Cincinna [...]

Title: Faith (Quaker Brides #3)Author: Lyn CotePages: 384Year: 2016Publisher: TyndaleMy rating is 5 stars.Faith Cathwell has one main goal when she volunteers to be a nurse during the Civil War and that goal is to find her best friend Shiloh. 19. Faith is the culmination of the Quaker Brides series by Lyn Cote. I looked back at what I said about the other two books in this series and I found this statement:Lyn Cote writes books that describe strong women with strong faith. They are independently minded, and yet, want the same love and nurture of their friends. They need the strength of the men in their lives to lean on at times. Her books are compelling and engaging, if not inspiring. Her main characters have strength of faith and streng [...]

    20. I was introduced to Lyn Cote a couple of years ago with Honor, the first book in the Quaker Brides series. Oh, how I fell in love with that story! I still rave about it. I was anxious for Blessing to come out, I sadly haven't read it yet, even though I have it. Then when Faith came out, I was excited to read it. And even though I have read this series out of order, it still works. These books can work together as standalone storiesbut why would you want to do that? Ha!Faith starts with a punch. [...]

    23. "Faith" by author Lyn Cote is Book Three in her Quaker Bride series. This Christian historical fiction novel is 384 pages and published by Tyndale House. This is the final book in the series but could be read as a stand alone. It is a nice historical romance, too.Author Cote writes the story of Faith in this book. Faith is a trained nurse and cares for Union soldiers. Her friend Honoree, born free but often mistaken for a slave, does, also. Her sister was kidnapped so she and Faith are going to [...]

    24. For any fans of a well-research Civil War novel, this is the right book for you. Faith is the final installment of the Quaker Brides trilogy. The series began with Honor, an heir to a plantation in the South who loses her home because she refuses to compromise her convictions on slavery. She ends up marrying Samuel and moving to Ohio where they continue their struggle against slavery by helping in the Underground Railroad. The next two books are about her daughters Blessing and Faith. Faith is a [...]

    25. I always appreciate a good story, especially one that is based in the south. Just the first chapter, where they are "On the road toward Jackson, Mississippi" called out my name, having lived in the area for nearly seven years. The history and the story line were on par, but there was too many battle scenes, which I realize Faith is a nurse and must go rescue the wounded, but even so at some point in the book I started flipped through the pages waiting until they returned to the main plot of the [...]

    27. `Faith` is a Christian historical fiction novel, book 3 of the Quaker Brides series by Lyn Cote. The setting is the Civil War, the year is 1863. Devlin's cousin, Jack, is on the [...]

    28. I've read all three of the Quaker Brides by Lyn Cote, Honor, Blessing and now Faith. Faith was a wonderful conclusion to the series. Set during the Civil War, I learned history in a "fun" way. Lyn has done her research. Faith's mother has spent fourty something years hiding and helping slaves. Faith has carried that on into war as she nurses the sick and wounded. She faces some opposition from a particular doctor who does not like women being trained as nurses. It's interesting to me to see how [...]

    29. I love it when I can find a really good book that I can just escape into the story. I found that with Lyn Cote’s third novel of The Quaker Brides Series, Faith.Faith is a book that balances history with the emotions that come from internal conflicts as humans. Colonel Devlin Knight certainly embodies this as he is at constant war with himself over the issue of slavery and coming to grips with what he knows is right. His internal struggle sets the basis of a strong theme that runs through this [...]

    30. I have really enjoyed the story of Faith. As a lover of history this historical fiction was right up my alley. The story of Quakers during the Civil War seems far fetched but with the times changing more and more people from different walks of life banded together to save lives.Witnessing Faith’s strength as she deals with disease and death to save the men who are fighting is heart wrenching. Of course Faith has an ulterior motive. Her only way to find her friend that was a freeborn woman of c [...]
