    1. I received The Artisan’s Wife a while back from Bethany House to read for an honest review. I was excited to read this book, since it takes place in Weston, WV not too far from my own hometown. I have read a good deal more of historical fiction this year, and I was thrilled to find a book taking place in my own state. However, I did not realize that it was the third book in a series. The book could be a standalone, and it’s not hard to keep up or put two and two together as you read. I just [...]

    2. This book was sooooo good! I was immediately hooked on the story and couldn't put the book down. The characters, storyline, and details were all wonderfully written. I found this book to be an amazingly quick read for me.I could understand Ainslee's reluctance to move to Weston and live out the dream that was mostly that of her twin sister. Faced with having to move to a town where she knew nobody and had to do a job that she was supposed to do with her sister had to be quite daunting but I thou [...]

    3. I enjoyed Judith Miller's The Potter's Wife. It was the fourth book that I have read by her. When I read a historical novel, I want to be taken back to the time period and never once doubt the research and the story that the writer has created for me. In Miller's stories, I never once doubt her love of history and her ability to bring the story to life with her research. In the Refined by Love series, I enjoy how Miller took three different positions of a brick maker, pottery maker, and a tile ma [...]

    4. Since I read The Carousel Painter by Judith McCoy Miller, I have been in love with her books. Some of my favorites of her books are the Amana series. Now she is wrapping up the West Virginia series with The Artisan's Wife. The Potter's Lady and the Brickmaker's Bride comprise the other two books in this series. It's been fun reading this series because of Judith's skill in writing it. When Ainslee's world is turned topsy-turvy because her twin sister elopes, she goes to Weston to take over the t [...]

    5. "The Artisan's Wife" is a historical novel set in 1876 in West Virginia. This book is the third in a series. You can understand what's going on without reading the previous books, but I'd recommend reading these books in order. Part of this book was more of a resolution to events in the first book than about Levi and Ainslee, and it "spoils" critical events from that first book in the process. The historical focus of this book was on the asylum and its patients. Levi has a brother living there, a [...]

    6. A satisfying conclusion to the Refined by Love series. It reads beautifully as a standalone but fans of the series will be thrilled with the involvement of Ewan and Laura in this book -- including a wonderful plot thread that brings them full circle. I love the way this author steeps her novels in history. Fascinating details make up the very fibre of the story and there's some awesome gems in The Artisan's Wife. Details I can't share without posting spoilers but just know I was riveted by the h [...]

    7. I've enjoyed each of the books in this series that I've read. While it is a series, each stands alone, and can be read out of order. One of the things that I've really enjoyed about this series is the detail that is shown whether it is making pottery or making tiles. I loved how Ainslee had to figure out who she is without her twin sister around. I also loved how compassionate she is. Her relationship with Levi was fun to watch as well. His secrets weren't really all that of a surprise, honestly [...]

    8. The Artisan’s Wife by Judith McCoy Miller is the third (and final) book in Refined by Love series. Ainslee McKay is happy teaching students, but her sister Adaira has an artistic streak. Adaira convinced her brother to purchase a tile works where she could use her artistic talents. Ainslee would run the business end. Shortly before they are to leave, Adaira disappears. She ran off and eloped with Chester Mulvane. The family had no idea she was that serious about the man she married. Ainslee wi [...]

    9. Almost two years ago I had the chance to dive into Judith Miller's Refined by Love trilogy. now with The Artisan's Wife the journey has come full circle and the wonderful twins are finally getting center stage!First things first. I skipped book two The Potter's Lady. I'm not exactly sure how that happened but with Miller's attention to plot continuation readers will find far more enjoyment if they take the time to read the series in order. Not that this is a hardship. Miller's writing style and [...]

    10. Reading one of Judith Miller's books is always a treat. Miller includes a great historical detail, solid Scriptural truth without being preachy, and romance with a touch of impending doom. The Artisan's Wife, #3 Refined by Fire, could stand alone, but I was thankful to have the background of the previous two books. It made the relationships that much easier to understand.First to attract a reader is the book cover. The artist does a magnificent job portraying the West Virginia mountains, a sunset [...]

    11. In this book, Ainslee has to take over a tile works in a town she's never been to. Her twin sister Adaira was supposed to help her but wound up eloping instead! Her brother Ewan and his wife Laura are busy helping her other sister, Rose, and her husband Rylan, at the pottery business they own. When she moves to take over the tile works she meets Levi Judson, who makes beautiful mosaic tiles, and who also has a brother in the local asylum. This book is a 4 because1: It took me a few chapters to re [...]

    12. The Artisan's Wife is the third book in the Refined by Love series. I have read the first two in the series, The Brickmaker's Bride, and The Potter's Lady. I really enjoyed all three books, but didn't feel it was necessary to read the other two in order to enjoy this one. Miller kept my attention the whole time, and I was anxious to find out what was going to happen next. This story takes place in the late 1800's in West Virginia. The McKay family is featured in all three books, this one follows [...]

    13. As Ainslee McKay reluctantly leaves all she's known, the beauty of forgiveness and new beginnings comes to light in a West Virginian town with hidden depths.Ainslee McKay's world is upended when her twin sister secretly elopes and leaves Ainslee alone to move to Weston, West Virginia, to fulfill their obligation at the McKay family's new tile works. While her brother, Ewan, agrees to travel with her and help her learn the ropes, she still intends to sell this business she no longer wants if a bu [...]

    14. In The Artisan’s Wife, the third book of the series “Refined by Love” by Judith Miller, the reader is introduced to Ewan and Rose’s sister Ainslee McKay. Ainslee discovers her twin sister, Adaira, has eloped and left her to fulfill the obligation of running the newly purchased tile works in Weston. Ainslee and Adaira have always done things together. Now Ainslee must leave her family striking out into unknown territory of running the new business by herself. Ewan and Ainslee make a deal [...]

    15. I loved going back to West Virginia and revisiting the bold McKay family. We were first introduced in The Brickmaker’s Bride, where Laura and Ewan told their story, carried onto Rose and Rylan’s story in the Potter’s Lady. Now it is Ainslee’s story we are told. I have loved every one of Judith Miller’s novels and I would have a hard time telling you which was my favorite. Although the three novels mentioned are part of the REFINED BY LOVE series each one tells a complete story and is a [...]

    16. This is book three in the Refined by Love series. It is a stand alone book, however you will miss some of the history of the McKay family if you jump right into this one. I have only read book one and now three and love the series yet feel they are all stand alone books.Ainslee McKay is a determined woman who normally just likes it in the shadows of her sister, however when she is forced to step out of her comfort zone she may discover she is stronger than she gives herself credit. Levi Judson h [...]

    17. I have been reading Judith Miller's books for awhile and I will say that I think this was one of her better books. I really loved the history of the mental institution that she put in here. The fear from the local people against the inmates, as well as how many of them were women put there by abusive spouses, brothers etc. as well as those that suffered from depression. The woman that read and wrote novels was one of my favorite secondary characters. The unique history of tile making was also fa [...]

    18. This is a great choice for fans of historical fiction. Unlike most women of her time, Ainslee is running a business and trying to earn respect from the men who work at her family's tile company. At first, she lacks confidence in her abilities, but that changes as she realizes she's more than competent at her job. She also finds romance with a talented tile designer. Ainslee and Levi find common ground in their faith and love of family. This was a satisfying and enjoyable read. [I received a comp [...]

    19. Alive with imagery and emotion, The Artisan’s Wife captured my attention from beginning to end! It was such a pleasure to revisit the McKay family, and I delighted in the history and romance of Ainslee’s story. I also enjoyed learning about the tile making process and the artistry involved in creating mosaic tiles. Judith Miller never fails to charm me with her characters and their stories, and I look forward to reading more from this wonderful author! I received a complimentary copy of this [...]

    20. I didn't relies that when I started this book that it is part of a series. But you don't have to read the previous titles to enjoy this book. It can be read as a stand alone. It was a very enjoyable read. May go back and read the others.

    21. 4.5 Stars Reviewed by TrudySexual Content: NoneLanguage Content: NoneViolent Content: NoneJudith Miller captures your interest in the first few pages as the young twin girls from the previous books are now grown up though things are not as Ainslee had hoped after it’s discovered that her twin has run away. 22. The Artisan’s Wife opens with young Ainslee McKay feeling devastated because her twin sister has eloped and left her to run a tile business in a new town. It was supposed to be a joint venture; but she bravely goes on to Weston, West Virginia to manage the newly-acquired family business. This historical fiction takes place in 1876 and truly shows Ainslee’s grit as she faces this venture. Ainslee fortifies herself, manages the reluctant male employees and privately plans to sell the tile busi [...]

    23. Amazing end to an inspiring trilogy This has to be my favorite trilogy by Judith Miller to date . I'm fairly certain that this is due to the fact that she based her locations on actual places she grew up in. Additionally , Miller included historical facts on the industries themselves , as they had progressed up until the times. Her characters lived up to their potential , and in the cases of those who meant ruin and disaster , I loved how they "saw the light " and made things right eventually .

    24. This review appears on my blog: youngaspiringwritersanonymous.I received a copy of this novel from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.Ainslee McKay's world is turned upside down when her twin sister unexpectedly elopes several weeks before they were supposed to move to Weston, West Virginia to run the tile works that her family had recently acquired. Despite her apprehensions, Ainslee moves to Weston and takes charge of the tile works until her older brother can find a buy [...]

    25. Another great bookI enjoyed this as much as the previous two books. I was sad to see the series come to and end.

    26. The final book in Judy Miller's series 'Refined by Love', 'The Artisan's Wife' follows Ainslee, who is one of the twins - youngest sisters to Ewan & Rose, whose stories we have followed in the earlier books. Initially, she and her twin Adaira, have made plans to move to the West Virginia town of Weston, to take over the running of a Tile Works. Adaira has eloped to Paris & Ainslee who was not keen on the venture, is for the most part pressured by her brother to see the commitment out. Ge [...]

    27. Judith Miller does not disappoint. Book was very well written. I didn't care for some of the names. I don't like it when names are hard to pronounce, I renamed 2 of the female characters: Amy & Dora. Christian Historical Fiction. There is a set of female twins who are close that are to move to a far off town to take over a tile works factory that their family has recently purchase. A few days before they day they are to leave, one of the twins takes off, elopes and basically leaves the other [...]

    29. I don’t usually recommend picking up a book located in the middle or at the end of a series without having read the earlier stories, but I recently did exactly that “The Artisan’s Wife” was written by Judith Miller and published by Bethany House in 2016, as the third and final installment in the “Refined by Love” series. Although numerous references were made to the earlier stories (because each book is about a different member of the same family) “The Artisan’s Wife” still sto [...]

    30. The first book in Judith Miller’s Refined by Love series focused on Ewan McKay, who’d come to America in search of a better life for his sisters back in Ireland. Eight years later, in the final book in the series, Ewan is married and his sisters are now in America and forging their own paths. Twins Ainslee and Adaira have differing personalities; Adaira is adventurous while Ainslee doesn’t like to step out of her comfort zone. Even though plans change, however, the McKay family doesn’t g [...]
