    1. Young Emil Tischbein (or Emil Tabletoe in some editions of Emil and the Detectives) returns in this sequel set two years after Erich Kästner’s charming original. The Professor (not a true educator at all, but the nickname of a clever boy Emil’s age named Theodore Haberland) has inherited a house at Korlsbüttel on the Baltic Sea. He writes Emil, now 14, and invites him to spend a few weeks at this house along with Emil’s grandmother and his cousin Pony Hütchen and a few of the old detect [...]

    2. I read Emil and the Detectives for the first time around 20 years ago, and somehow I like it. So when I found its sequel at a local bookstore, Emil and the Three Twins, I bought it without a second thought. It turns out, I tend to dislike this book. It was not fun, too dragging, and fell flat, especially if one has to compare it with its prequel. Unless if you really have some spare time to spend, better give this book a pass.

    3. What I learned from this book:More on time than on time, doesn't exist. A half hour too early is just as tardy as a half hour too late.

    4. A shade under the original Emil and mostly reads like a reunion of Emil and the Detectives. Yet I enjoyed it for its simple storyline, metafictional references to its own fictionality and of course Emil. Read because it's Emil.

    5. Sweet but a bit dated (it was written in 1935, the whole world seems like a pre-lapsarian paradise). I didn't read this when I was a kid, and this is a translated version, so that affects the way ypu read this books. On the whole, a whimsical read, but probably not for children. Erich Kastner writes in a simple and easy to understand fashion, and his insights into how kids behave are quite on the button. On the flip side, its hardly credible that two boys would be able to confront a grown man in [...]

E, asta e.

    9. Very entertaining but not that great as the previous one which I admired. Great read for the kids, though. Very realistic and down to earth which they admire apperantly.

    10. Enjoyed it so much more now than when I was younger. Strange. It's a really fabulous and fun story, and there are some great lines in it - though, of course, I can't remember a single one now. :(
