    1. As the parent of an adult on the autism spectrum, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's true to the realities of having a family member with even high-functioning autism, yet it also talks sensitively about not only the disability but the joys and difficulties of blended families. It made me tear up near the end! Also, the romance is very sweet (it's a YA, so no explicit sex). All in all, a delightful book.

    2. As much as I really wanted to love this book it kind of fell short for me. First, I do have to mention that I love that they included a character who has Asperger's Syndrome. I think it's important to include diverse characters as well as show how their lives can be different in addition to how it can impact their families. I understand whether a person has Asperger's or not, everybody lives differently. But I think when it comes to a syndrome or disorder, awareness and discussions are key. This [...]

    3. I have to be honest, Fade to us isn't my typical choice of book. I've read The Possibility of Somewhere by Julia Day and really enjoyed it, so when this came up I was intrigued. Fade to us is more about adjustment than romance. Brooke has her summer planned out. She wants to save as much money as possible for a car. She has a few jobs lined up and a plan in hand. Natalie is her stepsister and lives with her mum. She has Aspergers and can be a challenge. Her mother becomes ill and Natalie needs a [...]

    4. Mini review: I received this e-arc via Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed the family aspect of this book! The play was fun to read about. But what really made this book was the relationship between Brooke, Natalie and their parents. Micah was alright. His relationship with both girls was done nicely. Really loved Natalie! Would recommend.

    5. **Arc provided by author for an Honest Review**Fade to Us by Julia Day is an angsty, teen novel that will have you laughing and crying both tears of joy and frustration for the main character. Brooke had her whole summer planned out, a job at her best friend’s family business, time to spend with friends, and save for the car of her dreams with said job and friends by her side. That is until her step sister, Natalie shakes up those plans. Natalie is a special needs person, who sees the world in [...]

    6. "Fade to Us" is the story of Brooke, who just wants to have a good summer. When her stepsister comes to live with her family, Brooke is excited but doesn't know how to deal with Natalie's bluntness or outbursts that come from her Asperger's. She has a lot of learning to do but she's willing to do it even if that means changing her summer plans. I really appreciated seeing a character like Natalie in this book. I believe that it is important to represent people from all walks of life, dealing wit [...]

    7. I was provided an arc of Fade To Us in exchange for an honest review. This is a book that I feel needs to be in the hands of ownvoice readers. Because I don't have Aspergers or don't have a relative with Aspergers, I can't comment on how realistic the rep was. However, I do have a lot of thoughts on the other less important aspects of Fade To Us. I really enjoyed Brooke as a character, and I loved her relationship with her step-sister, Natalie. I thought the family relationships present in Fade [...]

    8. ”I am distracted—- by you. It scares me. Not just how quickly life changed, but how much I wish the inevitable end weren’t so inevitable.”Thank you, Wednesday Books!! If it weren’t for winning this book, I’m not sure I would have picked this one up. Theatre and me aren’t the best of friends but I was enthusiastic to give this a try. At times it was heartfelt, touching, and even romantic and other times it was eye-rollingly painful. Have you ever been introduced to a character, you [...]

    9. Fade to us by Julia Day a five-star read that won’t fade from your memory. This was my first read by this author and I really hope it won’t be my last, as a writer Julia Day showed us great compassion and honesty in her writing, where Brook could have been a spoilt 17 year old girl she gave up her summer to help her step sister, after growing up an only child it was clear why she would have wanted a step-sister but there is a twist to the story as her step sister Natalie is on the spectrum a [...]

    10. Fade to us is a phenomenal read! I loved the relationships between all the characters, and found them to be realistic. This novel gave me all the feels. When dealing with a special needs character, i believe Julia Day handled it with such respect and realness. This novel is so much more than a fluffy contemporary novel; it is filled with hardships, triumphs, and what it means to truly be a family. Such an amazon novel, would highly recommend!!

    11. Fade to Us by Julia Day is a very interesting young adult book, that deals with family dynamics and teen romance. Brooke lives with her mom, and step-father and has her summer all planned out. She has a good job that will allow her to buy a car and have plenty of time to hang out with her friends, until things change. Natalie, Brook's step sister comes to live with them for the summer, which is an adjustment because Natalie has Asperger's. I really enjoyed this book, and it was interesting how t [...]

    12. Full review to come, but this is the first autistic sibling story I've read that didn't make me want to throw things.

    13. Check out this, other reviews, and more fun bookish things on my young adult book blog, Here's to Happy Endings!Fade to Us is a moving novel about family, first love, and what it means to be a great sister, even when circumstances make it difficult to be your best.I went into Fade to Us wondering just how much I was going to enjoy it. While I have read a ton of novels that focus on theater, I can't say that I've ever been obsessive about it in my life, so sometimes I feel that I can't really rel [...]

    14. Brooke Byers is a white 17 year-old who had planned to spend the summer raking in the cash at her new job. But that all changes when her step-sister Natalie comes to stay for the summer. In some ways Brooke is excited for Natalie to come. She has been an only child her entire life, and has always wanted a sister. Now is her chance to have one and get closer with Natalie. The stress is because Natalie has Asperger’s Syndrome , which is a form of Autism which means that Natalie prefers things to [...]

    15. Originally posted on Daydreaming Books.*I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.*This book was somewhat okay. It’s kinda actually between 2.5 and 3 stars. I loved Day’s The Possibility of Somewhere, so I wanted to read this one too. Unfortunately, it didn’t manage to meet my expectations.Brooke had her whole summer planned out, working as much as possible so that she can finally buy her own car. But when her step-sister Natalie who [...]

    16. Brooke Byers is a 17 year-old who had planned to spend the summer hanging out with her best friend, spending time with her family, and working a job that will continue to help her save up for a new car. When Brooke receives the news that her new autistic step-sister, Natalie is coming to spend the summer with them because Natalie's mother is too sick to care for her, Brooke is excited but but apprehensive. Natalie has autism and has to be kept as calm and stable as possible or she has meltdowns. [...]

    17. Thank you to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for providing me with an e-ARC to read and review.I loved Fade to Us by Julia Day. It was such a fantastic read that I couldn’t put down for two whole days – it’s that compelling of a story.I didn’t know much about Asperger’s before reading this and have no experience with people who do have it, but I feel more informed post-read. The way the author presents what it’s like for someone with Asberger’s and how it feels to live with/take care [...]

    18. I was really pleasantly surprised with Fade to Us. When I first picked it up, I was a little wary. I work in theatre production and knowing a big part of this book took place around a drama camp, I was afraid that any kind of inaccuracies might take me out of the story. However, it turned out to be a fairly accurate portrayal of theatre and highlighted it's importance to kids who find trouble fitting in. It's obvious that Julia Day either has experience in theatre or did a fabulous job researchi [...]

    19. Fade to Us by Julia Day is a young adult novel about Brooke Byers. Her life and summer plans of trying to earn money to save up for a car are turned upside down by her step-sister Natalie coming to live with them. Natalie has Asperger's and her mother is having health issues with depression and asks Natalie's father, Brooke's step-father, Jeff to care for her over the summer. There is a lot of tension and walking on eggshells around Natalie, due to her condition, and Brooke's suggestion that Nat [...]

    20. Fade to Us by Julia Day3.75 / 5 🌟 My request on Netgalley was approved by the publisher, so thank you St. Martin's Press! Last year while I was scrolling through 2018 new YA releases, this book caught my eye. I ended up requesting and got an approval while I was on my Harry Potter marathon. Since, it was an ARC that was coming out soon, I had to drop Harry Potter and read this instead. And it definitely did not disappoint. For the first half of the story, it felt natural. Everything was coming [...]

    21. I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this story, which I really quite enjoyed. The main character, Brooke, has all these plans for her summer. She's going to have fun with her friends and work a job so that she can save up for her first car. Those plans are changed when her fairly new stepfather announces that his daughter is going to be moving in with them for the summer. Brooke isn't sure what to thinke's both excited and nervous. Her stepsister Natalie has Asperger's and Brooke isn't sure she [...]

    22. 3.5 Stars Fade to Us is swoony, family base, fast read that deals with mental health and sisterhood. Brooke had her summer planned out, but when her stepsister Natalie who has Asperger, it tuners her summer upside down. For me, I enjoy this story and characters. Books that deal with theater also are a joy to me because I love the backstage stuff and drama. My favorite part of this book it the relationship between Brooke and her stepsister Natalie. I don't want to give anything away from this boo [...]

    23. When Brooke's stepsister Natalie moves in, Brooke knows it's going to be an adjustment. Natalie has Asperger's and needs that little bit extra and Brooke wants to give it her all. Especially since she's longed for a sibling her whole life. Brooke finds herself spending more time doing events with Natalie and helping her adapt to her new setting as well. After Natalie joins musical theater, Brooke takes the leap to be there for her and volunteer to be in the back stage crew. Here, she meets Micah. [...]

    24. Note: I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!I wasn't sure how to feel about this book when I started it, but as the story evolved I found myself really enjoying it. I liked the characters, and I thought they were more or less very realistically portrayed. I know several young people with Autism, including some in my own family, and I thought that they didn't go over the top with it. It was very well done, and it was nice to see someone with that type of d [...]

    25. I requested this book because my younger sister has Aspergers so I thought this would be the perfect book for me. My sister shares quite alot of similarities with Natalie so instantaneously I felt a connect with the book and her characters. Fade To Us had helped me understand Aspergers that little bit better understanding from my sister's perspective.  I'm one of the closest people to my sister and we have so many common interest and so Natalie is kind of a special character to me. While I was [...]

    26. This is such a sweet, fun story. It works on every level but, as swoonworthy as the relationship between Brooke and Micah is, my favorite part is the relationship with Brooke and her stepsister Natalie. For basically her entire life, Brooke has wanted a dad and a sister. Since her mom married Jeff, she has a stepdad and a stepsister, but she wants to be closer with both of them. The problem is that neither of them seem to want the same in return. When Natalie moves in with them for the summer, Br [...]

    27. This was a giveaway win. The best part of this book is Brooke's relationship with Natalie, her step-sister who happens to have Asperger's. The rest of the book, though I suppose is necessary to have any sort of plot, was kind of blah. I would love to read further into the relationship between Brooke and Natalie, how they continue to develop as sisters and friends. It is interesting to see that Brooke would give up any other friend or relationship in her life to keep Natalie happy, even though t [...]

    28. This was a really enjoyable book and it was nice to see Asperger's representation in a female character instead of a male character which is what is often shown (males are more likely to be on the spectrum). Brooke was a likeable character and it was great to see her grow throughout the book and admit to herself what she really wanted.Natalie was a really well thought out character and it was obvious that a lot of time researching Asperger's went into writing this novel. I liked how Natalie was [...]

    29. I was provided an advance readers copy through a giveaway from Wednesday Books for an honest review. The beginning of the book had a good start, but towards the middle I had a hard time continuing to read it. The main character Brooke has a good relationship with her step-sister Natalie, but the relationship between her and Micah really isn't that interesting because it moved too fast and did not gradually build up. In my opinion, I believe that the author portrayed Natalie's character as accura [...]

    30. I just loved this book. Everyone in this book was great. It was nice to see everyone band together to support Natalie. They didn't treat her like a child but instead were there for her; especially Brooke. She even ditched her best friend for Natalie. This just endeared me more to Brooke. What made this book for me was the fact that it was joyous. It was a joy to read, the characters were cheerful, and the story was light hearted. Every time that Natalie found joy in something, I found myself smi [...]
