1 thought on “Clorinda Takes Flight

    1. I'm working on creating a booklist for my local public library. This book was one in consideration for this list.I'm not putting this on my list, though. Even though it covers the important aspect of working as a team, even though it covers the important aspect of not mistreating friends/those helping you, it simply doesn't cover the topic at hand enough. The main point of this book is to realize one's dreams, not losing friends along the way. That point was brought home so completely wonderfull [...]

    2. "Clorinda the cow took the sun now and then in the back of a friend's house, the farmhand named Len."Pros: Great rhyming book. I was a little unsure because the colors a kind of crazy on the coverI loved it! It reminded me of the crazy flying contraptions we tried to build as kids, or at least imagined building. Technically it is very well done like following the rule of three. The illustrations are very interesting and add to the story very well. The compositions and layout of the book is done [...]

    3. This book might be my favorite book so far! I love the lesson it has to share with kids. The first thing is that it teaches kids that they can do whatever they set their mind to. Second, it shows kids that true friends will always be there for you and to help you. This book would be great for third graders. I think third graders should read this book because there is a very valuable lesson to be learned from this book, and younger kids might not get it.

    4. Loved this picture book. Steven Kellog's illustrations are great!! He is one of my favorite illustrators of picture books. Clorinda the cow wants to fly. She watches the birds flying about and she wants to fly. Her friend the pig helps her design flying machines and they ahve very short flights in some of these machines. Len helps too. Clorinda and the pig manage to get one flying machine to take them to England where they have tea with the Queen. Loved this book.

    5. Very long but a total riot! A cow decides that she wants to fly so with the help of her friends she tries to create a plane, rocket, etc. None of them work until she makes a balloon. She flies to Engand, gets on the news, meets the Queen, and take tea back to their friend who they had left behind. I love that they are on the news!!

    6. Beautiful rhyming structure. I don't even remember the pictures or what it was about. It felt so good to read it!"And finally the friends, with some turns on a screw, got the prop fastened on - and with that they were through." Or, my personal favorite,"To cover the wings and the long fuselage, they stripped the tin roof off of Lenny's garage."There are more!

    7. Almost as cute as the first Clorinda book, and I enjoyed how Clorinda doesn't give up here, and continues to work with her friends to acheive her dream of flying. Clorinda has a very supportive friend in Len! :)

    8. This is a story of perseverance, determination and friendship. Clorinda is a cow who wants to fly, and with the help of her friends,Hop (a pig) and Len (a farmer) she realizes her dream after a few failed attempts.

    9. Fun illustrations by the great Steven Kellogg. Rhyming story of three friends. It is fun to do voices for the character, which include the Queen of England. A fun, positive story.

    10. I love Steven Kellogg's illustrations & stories told through his pictures. This was a funny book for the kids & I as we all enjoyed it.

    11. Approaching genius. It's amazing what a good rhyme scheme and a cow with a penchant for flying will do for a kids' book.

    12. I LOVED THIS BOOK! It is such a fun story about a cow and a pig flying around in a hot air balloon and having all kinds of adventures. It would be a great book to read to a class, just to have fun!
