    1. I read this as background reading for a University essay, only intending to skim read it for the info I needed - ending up getting really into it and read the entire thing. Antonin Artaud was an interesting man indeed, and this book shows why.

    2. Great biography of a complicated life with a touching preface by Anais Nin, fellow colleague, friend, and black sheep of the surrealists. It seems to be a fairly exhaustive and summative compendium of his publications and letters, at least to the extent that they colour the trajectory of his life. There are some gaps in his history, acknowledged by the author, such as the vaguely defined "violent incident" aboard a ship which saw him committed to a mental institution for the second time.     3. This isn't incredibly well-written, and has some problems, but it is a good resource for insight on the man and his life. There are some inspiring moments in it, and I felt like I got a glimpse into what being around Artaud might have been like. Worth a read if you have an interest in the man's biography, but not particularly incredible as a work in its own right.
